The Week 1 Update is the newest verified major Mortal Shell II patch. It is confirmed live on PC and PlayStation 5, while Xbox players report receiving the rollout on September 3. The update adds new items and economy changes while addressing save corruption, crashes, softlocks, Frame Generation, ray tracing, Genessa and many other issues. Compare your installed build because the original full-notes page still carries PC-first rollout wording.

How this was checked
Evidence and limits
Method: Official or platform documentation establishes changeable facts; independent guides and community reports are used only to cross-check routes, symptoms, or disagreement.
Evidence boundary: This is a source review, not a claim that every step was reproduced on every platform or hardware configuration.

- Close the game and let Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox finish every pending update.
- Record the build string shown in the pause menu before testing an old problem again.
- Reproduce the problem once on the updated build and report it with platform, location, and steps if it remains.
What the Week 1 Update adds
The first major update adds Fragile Tarstones, Glimpse Stone, Egon's Stone and Mether's Severance. Glimpses and Tarcores are no longer finite, and new beacons and exploration changes alter several routes.
- Fragile Tarstones and new stone rewards
- A Shell respec item that returns spent Glimpses
- Renewable Glimpses and Tarcores
- New daytime beacons and exploration adjustments
The highest-impact fixes
The update changes save writes so an interrupted save should no longer leave the player with nothing. It also includes broad crash and stability work, fixes multiple softlocks, reworks Frame Generation behavior, repairs ray-tracing options and improves Genessa's dashes and astral-copy targeting.
- Interrupted-save protection
- Crash fixes covering save loading and shutdown
- Frame Generation now applies after a reload
- Genessa dash and astral-copy fixes
- Many stuck locations and progression softlocks repaired
Balance Patch 1 is now history
Balance Patch 1 and Hotfix 2 remain useful history, but they are no longer the current PC patch. Pages that explain their named changes should say when Week 1 supersedes or expands them rather than presenting the older notes as the live baseline.
How this tracker handles version drift
This page records only named changes visible in current developer or platform posts. If a newer patch appears, the page date and version label must change together; advice on older builds should then be moved into history rather than silently left as current.
